Autonomous Vehicle Technology

Self-drive vehicles can take a few years to roll on the road, but some manufacturers have released features that help drivers enjoy some future technology. Tesla Autopilot feature automatic steering and automatic folding brakes. On some roads, they also distinguish the lanes and do not encroach. If the driver does not see pedestrians or other obstacles, the emergency brake system is automatically activated to stop the vehicle. The car is guided by eight cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors and radar technology, commonly used on ships and planes, to locate and distance objects. High-end models from Mercedes-Benz, General Motors and Volvo also offer similar systems. Meanwhile, cars like the Toyota Camry and Honda Civic are equipped with auto-spacing features.
